Sharis
is a well-defined songstress and experienced musician
who opens her heart and shares her soul at every show.
Born in nearby Philadelphia , Pa., she
is a singer, songwriter, an acoustic guitarist and an
energetic performer. She is a musical healer
who is grace in action with her diverse vocals and
driving rhythms. Her original songs explore
themes of freedom, love, nature, aspiration, and
connection with others and music. Her sound spans from
life's gentle songs to powerful folk-blues-funk-rock
with soul-inspired vocals and a grooving edge.
Sharis
is a versatile performer in how and what she plays. She
loves to share her original material and sometimes
performs solo. Sharis is currently one of the
singers in a group called Union Dues, made up of four
talented singer songwriters, bringing exciting
four part harmonies, originals and trumpet to the local
music scene. They share a folky-funky-country-rock
sound with a lot of spirit! She also performs with
Gypsonica, an
eclectic and dynamic duo, where she joins with singer
songwriter Mir
Stavola, sharing folk-rock and gypsy songs.
She also accompanies singer songwriter Heidi
Winzinger.
She
was the lead singer of a Mt. Holly-based Rock/Blues/Funk
band called Sharis Band, formerly Madison Hotel
for several years. She is also a member of the
all-female musical performance group, Genies.
Sharis regularly hosts an Open Mic at John and
Molly's at 1291 Woodlane Rd. in Eastampton, New
Jersey( 9-12pm) every Tuesday night. She also
is beginning a new Open Mic in the Princeton area on the
first Thursday of each month at the Updike Farmstead 354
Quaker Rd, Princeton NJ (6:30-8:30 pm). She has been
hosting Open Mics for the past seven years. She
entertains at various local venues, from coffee shops to
night clubs. Sharis' cover song list is long and
broad.
Sharis
has played music professionally for over 20 years,
performing in a wide range of locations with bands in California, Hawaii,
and Colorado as well as the Delaware Valley. Seven years
ago, she moved from Northern California to Southern
New Jersey. She brings and blends the tones of her
travels and Monterey, Santa Cruz, Big Sur
and San Francisco into her sound.
Sharis
made her first CD with Wild Reverence, an all-female
rock band based in Monterey, California. This
CD is available for sale on cdbaby.com.
Her second CD, There is Something, was recorded in New
York City and is a collection of solo folk songs.
This CD is available on itunes, cdbaby.com. Sharis
released a solo CD called Live at Bridgetown Pub. She
completed a new CD last year called Thank You for
Asking, also available on cdbaby.com.
Sharis is currently working in the studio on two
new projects to be released later this year. Sharis
is always creating and ever changing and consistently
loving to share her music with the world.
Sharis is a founding member and the former president of
"DRFF" Delaware River Folksong Fellowship.
